Finishing the Series Book Challenge

I made a list of the series I've started and haven't finished and the total is staggering. I'm actually embarrassed to mention how many (if you're curious - check out my actual bookshelf). So I've decided to join this challenge (hosted over at Bea's Book Nook).

I will be participating at Level 3 - Experienced, so I will be expected to finish between 3 - 6 series. Since I'm a mood reader, I'm not going to put together a TBR. Challenge TBRs tend to drive me into book slumps... I will, however, post my completed series right here!

  1. The 100 by Kass Morgan (3 books)

2016 TBR Pile Challenge

My husband got me new bookshelves for Valentine's Day. I was so excited to be able to rearrange my books have plenty of shelf space! I also decided I wanted to put a little yellow dot sticker on all of the books I haven't read. Nearly all of my books had a garish yellow dot on them (I've since taken all of the dots off). It made me realize that I have way too many unread books. It's a serious problem. I need to stop buying new books and read the ones I've already bought!

I decided to join the 2016 TBR Pile challenge hosted by Bookish Lifestyle not only to encourage me to read the books I already have, but to also encourage me to write more reviews. I am not a very good reviewer nor am I very good at critical reading, so hopefully there will be a distinct difference between the reviews posted at the beginning of the year and the reviews posted at the end of the year. So this challenge will help me tackle two reading goals! Maybe I'll even do a video review and try my hand at BookTube.

I am going to aim for the Sweet Summer Fling level on this challenge (31-40 books). I'm counting my progress starting at the beginning of the year. The main rules of this challenge are to read books that have been on your shelf for a while, no 2016 releases can count toward it, and you must write a review for each book you read. So I plan to only read books that are on my shelf right now and I'd like to focus on finishing series that I own. To keep me honest, here is what is on my bookshelves at the time of this post. I've also discovered that many of the books on my shelf are available at my library as audiobooks, so that should help me get through my TBR pile much faster!

  1. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins (Anna and the French Kiss #1)
  2. City of Glass by Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments #3)
  3. City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments #4)
  4. The 100 by Kass Morgan (The 100 #1)
  5. The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss (The Kingkiller Chronicle #1)
  6. Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare (The Infernal Devices #1)

Project 5

I bought so many books last year. In fact, I bought MOST of my books last year. I definitely went a little overboard. So this year I'm going to try to participate in the Project 5 Challenge, where I can only buy a book after I've read or unhauled 5 books. To make this a little more realistic, I'm going to allow myself the books I already have pre-ordered, and any books that I need to complete a series I'm actively reading (because if I don't finish the series while I'm reading it, it's likely I won't go back to it). Of course, there's always a huge loophole - the library.

This isn't going to be easy....

Bible in a Year

I've always been a Christian. Sometimes I feel like I've lost a lot of my faith as I became an adult, but I hope to find it again. I'm not a big fan of discussing religion in a public medium, especially on a blog dedicated to something else entirely, so that is all I will say on the subject.

I will say that it has been a lifelong goal of mine to read the entire Bible. So that's what I'm going to do. I started on February 22nd, so hopefully I will have the entire Bible read by this time in 2017 (my Bible). I found a great app (ReadingPlan) that gives me a daily reading assignment.

Spring Cleaning Readathon
